My Problem by Artist Martha Dodd

Hi, and thanks for checking in with me.

My problem.

I have been spending a lot of time, and I mean a LOT of time, on social media over the last couple of years. The upside was: I made contact with some new people I might not otherwise have met. The downside: I spent less time painting, and I had no energy left for my blog. It has literally been years since the last one. That is about to change.

My big announcement.

I am going to spend more time getting to know my audience – I CRAVE feedback on what you think about my work, what would make it better, what you would like to see more of. I want to share my stories on how and why I choose my subjects, how I execute them, and more. I plan on posting more frequently. More stories, not just about art, but about life, it’s ups and downs, what makes me feel secure, or insecure, things that I struggle with, and how I try to overcome them.

I also want to know more about YOU. What does art do for you, how does it make you feel, what interests you most, and more. Ask me questions, request tutorials, anything.

I hope you decide to keep reading my messages, and I look forward to getting to know you better.

What I am working on now.

Coming up, I have a show at the Campbell House Gallery in Southern Pines, North Carolina. It starts November 5th 2021 and is running through December 18th. I was put in the list 2 years ago, and now it is almost time.

My primary focus has been to paint horses for this event, although not all of them are horses. I have several pieces i am still trying to finish at this late date:

This is just a few, here is a fun video I made of the Butterfly Queen:

I need to get back to my studio, I am feeling a bit stressed because there is still so much to do. Ever feel that way?

Cheers to you, thanks for taking the time to check in with me.

Martha
