“Out of the Dark and Into the Light” is the first painting of the year.

I created this painting from a photo I took of a white stallion in Switzerland. The stallion, Romeo, is owned by Christina Stuckelberger, who is a 5 time Olympic rider, and a national hero. Christina is a good friend of mine, and Marc and I visit her farm in the summertime.

Romeo was stepping out of his stall into his yard when I took the photo, and I was captivated by his pose.

I chose a primed 16 x 20 inch panel, my preferred surface, to paint on. I played with some textures for the background, and finally am satisfied with the results. I hope you like it too!

The original is now hanging in the DAAS Gallery, a cooperative of local artists, in Fort Myers, Florida.

The DAAS Gallery is open 10-6pm Tuesday through Saturday.
